TAMA's Sound Lab Project series is back in a big way with a competitively priced shell pack made from exotic kapur wood. The TAMA S.L.P. Dynamic Kapur shell pack is built from six and seven plies of select kapur - a heavy hardwood with a dark, oaky attack and crisp top end - made visually distinct by a gloss dark burst finish and retro mini tube lugs. Drummers at Sweetwater found the Dynamic Kapur shell pack to be robust and balanced, particularly under close mics. Sound Arc triple-flanged hoops on TAMA's rounded-outer 45° bearing edges balance shell and head response in the toms for classic warmth and modern sustain. TAMA's Star-Mount suspension system allows mounted toms to breathe, while Evans G1 batter heads (included) deliver a uniform voice across the kit.
Select kapur shells
At just 5mm thick, the 6-ply toms in the S.L.P. Dynamic Kapur shell pack are capable of tremendous depth and warmth. The lively kapur wood remains open sounding at all tuning ranges, bucking over-ring for a pure, dry tone that cuts through a mix. The slightly larger 6mm/7-ply kick drum sees a small bump in thickness for shell strength while remaining sonically clean and tonally uniform. TAMA's proprietary bearing edges with 45° inners and rounded outers balance shell and head response for a sound that is both timeless and modern.
Sound Arc steel hoops
TAMA's Sound Arc tripled-flanged hoops are responsible for the S.L.P. Dynamic Kapur shell pack's fat, open tone. The edges of these 2.3mm hoops are bent inward to allow the natural tone of the kapur shells to shine.
Evans G1 batter heads
Your TAMA S.L.P. Dynamic Kapur shell pack is ready to rock out of the box, thanks to a set of included Evans G1 coated batter heads. This familiar-sounding head sports a 10mil film with a warm, controlled attack and great stick response. This is just another reason why, for the price, the TAMA S.L.P.
