The Yamaha GC5 Guitar is a quality guitar with a balanced sound.
Made in Japan in 1981.
It was made and signed by one of Yamaha's greatest luthiers, Hideyuki Ezaki. Hideyuki joined Yamaha's classical guitar workshop around the mid-1970s and worked alongside Toshiro Kato (Yamaha's greatest Japanese luthier).
This particular guitar is a wonderful example of Ezaki's superb craftsmanship. Although the back and sides are made of Laminate wood, it will surprise every player. It has deep resonant bass, clear yet colorful highs, all notes are well separated, balanced and has impressive sustain.
Laminate panels are made from 2 layers of solid wood glued together with natural resin. They are so well made that they perform as well as solid wood while being less expensive to produce. Since the late 1960s, Yamaha has been a leader in the development and mastery of guitars made of wood “laminates”.
Although this guitar is 36 years old, it is still in excellent overall cosmetic and structural condition.
