The Yamaha GC-5 Guitar is a quality guitar with a balanced sound.
Made in Japan in 1981.
It was built and signed by one of Yamaha's greatest luthiers, Hideyuki Ezaki. Hideyuki joined Yamaha's classical guitar studio in the mid-1970s and worked alongside Toshiro Kato (Yamaha's greatest Japanese lute maker).
This particular guitar is a great example of Ezaki's superb craftsmanship. Although the back and hips are made of Laminate wood, it will surprise every player. It has deep resonant bass, clear but colorful highs, all notes are well separated, balanced and has impressive sustain.
Laminates are made from 2 layers of solid wood glued together with natural resin. They are made so well that they perform as well as solid wood while producing guitars is less expensive. Since the late 1960s, Yamaha has been a leader in the development and mastery of wooden “laminates”.
This guitar despite being 36 years old is still in excellent overall structural and aesthetic condition.
