The APX's slim body provides incredible comfort, top fret accessibility, and a tone perfect for stage use. Specially designed clamshellless X-style bracing maximizes body resonance for a full, natural sound.
APX Soundhole: Oval.
Soundhole APX instantly detects lower midrange response and produces a more airy, more solid sound.
Electric system: Piezo pickup system for APX600.
This pickup system uses individual elements for each string to provide an ultra-clear, ultra-wide bandwidth signal with much better response and tonal accuracy than conventional piezo pickup systems.
About Yamaha's APX line.
If you were an electric guitarist in the 1980s and wanted to perform acoustically on stage, there really weren't many effective instrument choices at the time. By 1987, Yamaha had released the first acoustic guitar with a sound processing chassis that could be plugged in and played at high volume without any problems; No more annoying howling feedback, misplaced mics or worrying about lengthy sound checks....
