The Grand Concert's signature design brings Taylor's high standard of comfort and playability to the Academy Series, a great guitar on a budget.

Academy 12 has a beautiful design, with a compact waist on the upper body of the instrument, creating comfort and a pleasant feeling to help players reduce fatigue. The slightly shorter scale length of 24-7/8” also contributes to the smoothness of the A12, making it easier to tune strings, hold chords, and bend notes to navigate the neck on an acoustic guitar.

The A12 not only gives you a comfortable feeling, but also has a balanced, powerful sound, combined with a solid Spruce top with a strong mid-range. With versatile sound and simple design, the A12 gives you the power to pursue endless musical inspiration.

The Grand Concert was launched in 1984 to meet the needs of a wave of fingerstyle players. In contrast to the traditional warm, deep tone of dreadnoughts and jumbos, the GC's compact size and slim waist keep the tone controlled by the player. The Grand Concert is also perfectly suited to the combination of instruments in the studio or orchestra on stage.

Top Sitka Spruce.

The most popular wood used for guitar soundboards, Sitka Spruce produces a wide range of sounds and accommodates a variety of player styles, from fretting to fingerpicking.

Layered Sapele.

The multi-layer wood structure is not appreciated for the sound of the guitar, but it is more durable and cheaper.

With multi-layer Sapele, it is a combination of outer Sapele wood with a core layer of Poplar wood. This gives the guitar more elasticity and better sound transmission under environmental conditions such as high humidity.

Non-cutaway (No cutaway).

There's a lot to be said about the traditional (not buttoned) shape of the acoustic guitar. If you're a guitar player who doesn't use a lot of high-note chords (from the 14th fret), or you simply like the symmetrical contours of your guitar, then an uncut guitar is a great choice.
