The popular shape of the Grand Auditorium appeared in 1994 with proportions somewhere between the Dreadnought and the Grand Concert. While the traditional Dreadnought has a large profile for flatpicker's and a smaller Grand Concert for fingerstyle players, the GA is designed to play both styles.
Sitka Spruce – the most popular type of wood for guitar tops, Sitka has a wide frequency range and meets all styles of musicians.
The body is made of Walnut wood.
The Taylor 114E guitar body is made of Walnut wood for an extremely distinctive, balanced sound. It has powerful tones with solid low frequencies, smooth mid frequencies and clear high frequencies.
Venetian Cut-away.
The Venetian cut is known for its soft, rounded lines. The cutoff point will vary depending on the shape of the guitar, the Grand Concert, Grand Auditorium and Grand Symphony have larger rim curves, while the Dreadnought and Jumbo are a bit flatter. The Grand Concert nylon string models have a more refined and flatter cut, and the 100 and 200 series models are considered to have the flattest contour curves.
