The Raw Crash is a different kind of cymbal - unrefined and completely unique. With a short and explosive bump, it also acts as a dry and tight alternative ride. Each sound sample below includes 3 different Raw Crashes to emphasize the very unique nature of this cymbal.

Reviewed in the Zildjian Concept Shop and now available worldwide, FX Raw Crashes are the simplest and most fun cymbals we've ever produced! Each Raw Crash starts with Zildjian's secret alloy, but is not forged, turned or trimmed, creating a sound and shape unlike any other cymbal.

A cymbal like no other. Rough bumps are not hammered or turned, which gives each surface an irregular cross-section and an unrefined surface. They are also not cut into a perfect circle, resulting in odd shapes, sizes (maximum diameter 24”) and naturally rough edges. Overall, these variations in edge shape, form, size, and consistency are what create the distinct sounds from one crash to the next that make these cymbals become special.

Releasing an unrefined sound. These cymbals open up easily, create beautiful dry crashes with excellent cut, then break away from the mix, creating powerful highlights and clean vocal patterns. The small bell version of Raw Crash delivers a dry and controlled sound, with less obvious overtones. The Raw Crash loud bell is a bit more airy, the bell sound is clearer. Both versions offer focused sound with a variety of tones to suit any style, making them a great choice for a replacement ride cymbal! Their low profile makes them ideal for moderate volume settings where less projection is required.

A completely personal look. Aesthetically, each Raw Crash will have streaks, marks, and swirls of different colors. They are created when hot metal is tempered and over time will continue to grow. Some Roughings may show rolling marks, tool marks and scratches from moving hot workpieces, chalk marks indicating cup location and furnace number, and other telltale signs of the workpiece's travel. they go through the foundry. These are purely intuitive features that appear naturally during operation and do not affect sound or longevity in any way.
