- Musical instruments to play

The SPD-SX is equipped with nine highly sensitive rubber pads with two independent real-time controls and four dedicated effect buttons. Roland's most advanced trigger technology ensures the highest precision and fully dynamic performance, while the large backlit LCD provides easy-to-read data in any environment. Each drumhead has an accompanying LED light that illuminates to display the status of the drumhead. When you activate sampling, the LEDs stay lit to let you know which drum side is playing and which side is not. Additionally, the LEDs change illumination intensity according to audio level activity (similar to meters on a mixing board). High-contrast red dividing lines help you clearly see buffer zones on stage.

- Improved playability and functionality

Nowadays, drummers and percussionists increasingly need to incorporate acoustic samples into their performances. The SPD-SX will meet their increasing requirements with essential features such as individual click output routing, dedicated volume control, Pad Check function, individual Sub Out, etc.

- Integrated effects

The SPD-SX has three multi-effects units onboard: one main unit and two assignable units each. The master effects engine lets you perform in real time like a DJ using dedicated controls on the front panel. Use filters, delays, short loops and user-assignable effects - all of which can be creatively adjusted with four front-panel buttons and two control knobs.

- Multi-Pad Sampling

There's much more to the SPD-SX than meets the eye. A host of powerful yet user-friendly features have been packed into this tiny drum set, such as multi-sampling on the drumhead. While audio is streaming from an external player or computer (via Audio In or USB), simply tap each pad at the appropriate start/end point and the sample will automatically be clipped and assigned to that pad

- Wave Manager software on SPD-SX

The SPD-SX's generous 4GB of internal memory allows you to store and carry your entire sample library inside. Without the need for external memory, you can store approximately 360 minutes of audio (10,000 files) in 16-bit, 44.1 kHz, mono. Integrated USB ports let you import audio files directly from USB flash memory. The included SPD-SX Wave Manager software application lets you import audio files directly from your computer via USB, assign samples to each pad, and organize thousands of samples efficiently.
