Unique crust.

Session Studio Select combines Masters-grade hardwood (4 outer layers of Poplar) and softer inner wood (2 inner layers of African Mahogany) creating a unique tonal separation between strength and controlled resonant warmth.

Using the world's first high-temperature hydraulic press system, Pearl's SST method was developed to fabricate multi-layer, bonded drum shells with the resonance and durability of single-layer solid wood .

This exclusive engineering begins with hand-selected premium hardwoods, selected for their unique acoustic properties.

Each layer is milled to a precise thickness and bonded into 2-layer panels.

Utilizes Pearl's signature stacked scarf-style seam, providing 800% more bond surface area than conventional butt joints, ensuring perfect edge fit, providing superior extreme durability and integrity to the housing while eliminating air pockets that can disrupt vibrations, so the housing vibrates evenly for superior resonance.

The wood layers are bonded with Pearl's proprietary glue, which penetrates the wood and dries to the wood's exact consistency to create optimal resonance.

Finally, the wood layers are shaped in a mold at high temperature with 1000 PSI hydraulic pressure, creating an optimal air cavity for optimal resonance, extreme durability, and outstanding tone.

All are tested for completeness to ensure safety and optimal adjustment.

The 6-layer case is a combination of Poplar and Mahogany wood.

The 6-layer (5.4mm) shell includes four outer layers of premium Poplar wood and two inner layers of African Mahogany.

External 60 degree bearing edge.

The bearing edge is the only part of the shell that the drum face contacts. Pearl's bearing edge is beveled at 60 degrees. The top edge of the drum provides a powerful, deep, focused tone.

Pearl's four-point tom suspension system attaches to each tom at four corresponding tension rod points and provides a secure hold for the tom when played in a flexible position.
