Made from Sapele solid wood top and Macassar wood back and sides, this model has a clear, loud sound with a significantly wider sound range. It has strong bass and lower midrange, clear highs. The mid-frequency sound is quite similar to rosewood. Like Koa wood, it takes a while for Macassar's sound to "open up" and become richer.

Taylor Bob once said “To me, Macassar has the vibe of an old Gibson, great. It's a bit opaque, dense and heavy. It's like a killer of extremely masculine instrumental tracks. We use a very clear “salt” finish to add flavor to the guitar to expand the tone. But to my ears, the beauty of the wood comes through in the bass. I loved the sound and bought one.”
