The Yamaha factory in Kakegawa, Japan is famous for being the pinnacle of piano making. But inside a corner of this factory is an even more special place. Concert Piano Workshop where our most skilled craftsmen make stylish pianos entirely by hand. These artisans have learned from previous generations of craftsmen. Trained to appreciate living, breathing natural materials. Trained to choose woods worthy of becoming CFX. Expert woodworkers who shape the soundboards, rims and back posts for the most famous stages. Rim and posterior pillar.

Top one percent hand-picked oak and mahogany are selected to impart a warm, deep tone quality to the rims. State-of-the-art ARE (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) technology reduces moisture to give the wood an aged character, preventing damping to create clear vibrations. An innovative bonding method combines expertly seasoned woods together to create a smooth, resonant sound.

Guitar frame.

Each CFX frame is sand-cast at Yamaha's custom frame factory in Iwata, Japan. Yamaha's master forgers have spent decades refining innovative designs for their unique ability to support string tension while resonating beautifully with the soundboard.

Resonance board.

Each soundboard is made from the top one percent of European spruce. This strong, lightweight wood is hand-selected for its ability to transform string vibrations into beautiful, resonant sounds. The knob's shape has been tweaked to add deeper, more resonant mid-bass, and the width, height and position of the tone ribs have been tweaked for dynamic range.

Bridge.

The bridge is handcrafted from the finest maple wood and reshaped in the mid-treble register to effectively increase string length, enhancing lower frequencies between mid-treble and treble, optimizing balance across the board. register set. The result is an extraordinary combination of projection and richness in every note.

Musical hammer.

The highest quality German hammer felt is hand-selected and individually shaped to impart exceptional timbre and a rich sound palette with greater depth and nuance in each note. To ensure the fibers remain in their pristine, natural state, each piece of felt is carefully shaped and tied to a hammer at optimal temperatures using a specialized manufacturing process. This hand-crafted felt hammer is combined with walnut wood to naturally enhance the overall sound of the instrument.

Mechanical apparatus.

Each part of the action has been fine-tuned to increase the connection between player and piano. The capstan screw, the contact point between the keyboard and the action, and the roller material have all been re-engineered to help deliver a more responsive feel from delicate pianissimo to powerful fortissimo.

The matte finish helps reduce distracting light reflections from stage lights. Three hinges are installed on the curved frame and main roof in optimal positions to improve vibration characteristics.

Pedals.

The two sides are designed flat from a pianist's perspective to focus entirely on playing, and the feet are unadorned for a timeless, classic look.

The white keys are made from hygroscopic Ivorite™ resin for a feel and color similar to natural ivory. The black keys are made of the finest natural ebony.
