The Dreadnought shape is a traditional guitar shape designed by Christian Frederick Martin (1796-1873), also the founder of the now famous Martin guitar brand. With the trend of modern development, other guitar manufacturers also design many different guitar shapes, giving different sounds. The front of the Academy 10 is the choice of Spruce wood used for many Taylor models - solid Sitka Spruce wood provides clear, sharp resonance.
- The back and sides of the guitar are made of layers of Sapele wood pressed together
- Taylor's unique slim Sapele neck with short scale length (24-7/")
- The keyboard surface is made of Ebony wood, accented with 4mm acrylic patterns
- The instrument includes a gig bag for convenient portability.
