Crasher Hat. Benny Greb wanted something super short, dry, clear and high-frequency yet very dynamic that could fulfill the role of a musical whispering shaker.
So, together with Meinl, Greb created Crasher Hats. Four separate cymbals clamped together. They have different shoulders so they lean against each other with each knock. The result is an incredibly unique sound that not only blends beautifully with ghost notes and other drum parts, but is also an excellent part that doesn't introduce unwanted sustain or noise.
