Traditional Guitar Shops On Nguyen Thien Thuat Street - HCMC

Nguyen Thien Thuat Street - Ho Chi Minh City , the road is not only associated with historical imprints and the story of the hero hidden behind, but also is home to many traditional guitar making shops of Saigon . Here, you can find small guitar shops, displaying traditional styles with simple guitars hanging with a hook on the head.

Nguyen Thien Thuat Piano Street is located in District 3 - Ho Chi Minh City. This is considered the gathering place of traditional guitar shops that have created a clear identity in the heart of bustling Saigon.

Nguyen Thien Thuat Street has a length of less than 1km, starting from Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and ending at Dien Bien Phu Street. This street has a number of small guitar shops, not only making and repairing guitars but also a destination to chat between lovers of traditional guitars.

People here said that starting in the 80s, many guitar shops sprang up and they developed into a guitar town. Although now it is no longer as busy as it used to be, there are only 5-7 shops left, but these shops still have the characteristics of traditional shops, creating an idyllic feature in the middle of Saigon.

The shops are scattered with quite small area, sometimes only 20 square meters. In which, some shops specialize in repairing old guitars, some specialize in guitars, others specialize in violin, others specialize in ethnic musical instruments.

ABOUT HERO NGUYEN THIEN ART.

Nguyen Thien Thuat street is named after the leader of the Bai Say uprising - one of the uprisings of the Can Vuong movement. Nguyen Thien Thuat (1841-1926), born in Hung Yen. He used to help Hoang Ke Viem defeat the Tau O invaders at the border.

In 1885, he responded to the Can Vuong campaign, established a war zone at Bai Say, captured Hai Duong province and threatened neighboring provinces. After the French encircled and blocked the supply route, he dispersed the insurgent army, went to China to mobilize foreign Vietnam but failed and stayed there until his death.
